Sean Henderon, 30, was arrested while he was traveling in a Lyft ride share Thursday in Elizabeth. He had the keys to the apartment housing the heroin mill in his possession when he was arrested, the prosecutor's office said.

Henderson was arrested the same day authorities raided the mill, located in the 100 block of Western Parkway in Irvington. The raid was carried out following an investigation by Detective Michael Griffith of the prosecutor's Narcotics Strike Force.

The Drug Enforcement Agency, Essex County Prosecutor's Office and the Elizabeth Police Department also assisted.

Authorities found more than 1,400 "bricks," equal to about 71,000 individual doses of the drug, as well as 150 grams of raw heroin. The drugs have an estimated street value of about $825,000, authorities said.

Scales, respirator masks and other packaging and processing items were found at the site, authorities also said.

Henderson has been charged with maintaining a narcotics production facility, possession with intent to distribute and other drug offenses.

He faces up to life in prison if convicted on all charges.

The raid comes the same week as a similar search carried out by a task force assembled by the state Attorney General on another Irvington heroin mill. Four people were arrested in that raid.
